Football League: your thoughts
Palace march on, Bournemouth continue their resurgence and Gillingham go seven points clear in League Two
Championship
? Is the Bolton manager, Dougie Freedman, right to say that the Championship needs full-time referees? Freedman was frustrated by a series of decisions from Carl Berry as Wanderers drew 1-1 against Barnsley. "Until referees at this level, which is a very important level, are full-time, I can't criticise the referee," he said. "The Premier League have got 18 full-time referees and that's the reason they're a lot better. The poor guy has probably been asked to work all week to fend for his family and then he is asked to turn up in a stadium and make big decisions. It's unfair."
? Are Crystal Palace the real deal? The manager has changed but the Eagles' unbeaten run continues, and now stands at 14 matches. Ian Holloway saluted "another fantastic performance" after his side, inspired by Glenn Murray, beat Derby 3-0 to remain top of the Championship table. "They didn't stop from start to finish and the professionalism and determination to keep this run going is awesome," Holloway said. "I think we're starting to look a bit of a handful."
? Is David Jones right or deluded? Sheffield Wednesday are 21st in the table after their 10th defeat of the season ? this time a 1-0 loss away at Nottingham Forest. But Jones believes results are not flattering his team. "There's no team in this division better than us," he said. "They might have a bit more composure in front of goal but that's it. I'm an honest man and if we were getting hammered every week I would be the first to hold my hands up. I keep checking under my car in the mornings to check I haven't run over a nun or a black cat."
? It's not looking good for Wolves or Leeds. Both teams were fancied in some places as outside bets for promotion ? but both have picked up only three points in their last six games.
League One
? Keep an eye on Bournemouth. On the surface they are sat in mid-table in League One. But they have won seven of their last eight matches ? the best form in the division ? to move to from the relegation place to just four points off the play-off positions. Their latest win, a 4-1 home victory against 21st-placed Oldham was yet another statement of intent.
League Two
? Gillingham's lead is looking ominous. Admittedly a seven-point advantage in November can easily be clawed back. But while the Gills beat Morecambe 2-1, second-placed Port Vale could draw only 2-2 at home to York and third-placed Cheltenham lost 4-2 away at Rotherham.
